# Qwen Code Insights Page
A React-based visualization dashboard for displaying coding activity insights and statistics.
## Development
This application consists of two parts:
1. **Backend (Express Server)**: Serves API endpoints and processes chat history data
2. **Frontend (Vite + React)**: Development server with HMR
### Running in Development Mode
You need to run both the backend and frontend servers:
**Terminal 1 - Backend Server (Port 3001):**
```bash
pnpm dev:server
```
**Terminal 2 - Frontend Dev Server (Port 3000):**
```bash
pnpm dev
```
Then open <http://localhost:3000> in your browser.
The Vite dev server will proxy `/api` requests to the backend server at port 3001.
### Building for Production
```bash
pnpm build
```
This compiles TypeScript and builds the React application. The output will be in the `dist/` directory.
In production, the Express server serves both the static files and API endpoints from a single port.
## Architecture
- **Frontend**: React + TypeScript + Vite + Chart.js
- **Backend**: Express + Node.js
- **Data Source**: JSONL chat history files from `~/.qwen/projects/*/chats/`
## Original Vite Template Info
This template provides a minimal setup to get React working in Vite with HMR and some ESLint rules.
Currently, two official plugins are available:
- [@vitejs/plugin-react](https://github.com/vitejs/vite-plugin-react/blob/main/packages/plugin-react) uses [Babel](https://babeljs.io/) (or [oxc](https://oxc.rs) when used in [rolldown-vite](https://vite.dev/guide/rolldown)) for Fast Refresh
- [@vitejs/plugin-react-swc](https://github.com/vitejs/vite-plugin-react/blob/main/packages/plugin-react-swc) uses [SWC](https://swc.rs/) for Fast Refresh
## React Compiler
The React Compiler is not enabled on this template because of its impact on dev & build performances. To add it, see [this documentation](https://react.dev/learn/react-compiler/installation).
## Expanding the ESLint configuration
If you are developing a production application, we recommend updating the configuration to enable type-aware lint rules:
```js
export default defineConfig([
globalIgnores(['dist']),
{
files: ['**/*.{ts,tsx}'],
extends: [
// Other configs...
// Remove tseslint.configs.recommended and replace with this
tseslint.configs.recommendedTypeChecked,
// Alternatively, use this for stricter rules
tseslint.configs.strictTypeChecked,
// Optionally, add this for stylistic rules
tseslint.configs.stylisticTypeChecked,
// Other configs...
],
languageOptions: {
parserOptions: {
project: ['./tsconfig.node.json', './tsconfig.app.json'],
tsconfigRootDir: import.meta.dirname,
},
// other options...
},
},
]);
```
You can also install [eslint-plugin-react-x](https://github.com/Rel1cx/eslint-react/tree/main/packages/plugins/eslint-plugin-react-x) and [eslint-plugin-react-dom](https://github.com/Rel1cx/eslint-react/tree/main/packages/plugins/eslint-plugin-react-dom) for React-specific lint rules:
```js
// eslint.config.js
import reactX from 'eslint-plugin-react-x';
import reactDom from 'eslint-plugin-react-dom';
export default defineConfig([
globalIgnores(['dist']),
{
files: ['**/*.{ts,tsx}'],
extends: [
// Other configs...
// Enable lint rules for React
reactX.configs['recommended-typescript'],
// Enable lint rules for React DOM
reactDom.configs.recommended,
],
languageOptions: {
parserOptions: {
project: ['./tsconfig.node.json', './tsconfig.app.json'],
tsconfigRootDir: import.meta.dirname,
},
// other options...
},
},
]);
```

## Requirements
- Visual Studio Code 1.85.0 or newer
- Visual Studio Code 1.85.0 or newer (also works with Cursor, Windsurf, and other VS Code-based editors)
## Installation
## Quick Start
1. Install from the VS Code Marketplace: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=qwenlm.qwen-code-vscode-ide-companion
1. **Install** from the [VS Code Marketplace](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=qwenlm.qwen-code-vscode-ide-companion) or [Open VSX Registry](https://open-vsx.org/extension/qwenlm/qwen-code-vscode-ide-companion)
2. Two ways to use
- Chat panel: Click the Qwen icon in the Activity Bar, or run `Qwen Code: Open` from the Command Palette (`Cmd+Shift+P` / `Ctrl+Shift+P`).
- Terminal session (classic): Run `Qwen Code: Run` to launch a session in the integrated terminal (bundled CLI).
2. **Open the Chat panel** using one of these methods:
- Click the **Qwen icon** in the top-right corner of the editor
- Run `Qwen Code: Open` from the Command Palette (`Cmd+Shift+P` / `Ctrl+Shift+P`)
## Development and Debugging
3. **Start chatting** — Ask Qwen to help with coding tasks, explain code, fix bugs, or write new features
To debug and develop this extension locally:

5. **View logs and debug output**
- Open the Debug Console in the original VS Code window to see extension logs
- In the Extension Development Host window, open Developer Tools with `Help > Toggle Developer Tools` to see webview logs
